Butterflies

A few years ago my mom and I took my youngest son to the butterfly farm in High Point, NC. This was a very interesting place! They gave a talk about butterflies...explaining how to tell males from females; telling all about the lifespans and the different stages of life; and even had a child get up front to demonstrate some of the different body parts of the butterfly. Zack was chosen, and got to go up and have a little fun. Afterwards we got to go into the greenhouse-type building that housed the butterflies...we were able to feed them sugar water from little cotton pads, and they lit on our clothes and the flowers that were arranged all around the area. Below are a few pictures I took....

The picture below was not taken at the Butterfly Farm, but instead was taken on the banks of the Yadkin River in Yadkin County, NC. We went to a little park there and were walking up and down the banks and happen to find a place where the butterflies were sipping water from shallow little pools and puddles. You can't really see water in this picture, but this pair of butterflies were just two of the many who were out on the bank that day...
