Yadkin River - Part 2

Here are a few more pics from the day...

No, this is not some strange half-submerged beast out in the water, but instead is actually part of an old bridge support from a smaller bridge that crossed the river just up from the current bridge. These days it's a resting spot for people tubing or canoeing down the river. I think the funniest site I've seen down on the river was the day a kayaking class paused to rest there. I say 'class' instead of group because they were mostly young and you could tell they didn't have experience...it turned out to be something pretty interesting to watch...

I realize that this mostly looks like blue sky with some black specks, but in reality they are dozens of seagulls sailing around over the river. They cart-wheeled back and forth for a time before disappearing...no doubt headed for a Wal-Mart parking lot near you! Try clicking the picture to see a larger view where you might can see them a little more easily.

More of that juxtaposition between dark and light that I talked about in the other post...the tree branches look black against the blue skies and white clouds, but you can still tell that they are starting to bud with new leaves. Spring is springing, folks!!!

This is just an interesting section of rock wall near the river. Man tries to recreate at the entrances to a million sub-divisions what God creates effortlessly in natural spots the world over...
